Engineered Monorail
Access Systems

Where davits and roof rigging cannot reach — beneath soffits, canopies, roof overhangs, and inside atriums — monorails provide a continuous, engineered track from which workers suspend. Smooth-rolling trolleys travel along the rail, giving controlled, repeatable access along the full length of the façade or interior feature.

Innovative Access designs and supplies monorail systems fabricated from custom aluminum extrusions or galvanized steel, selected for the structural requirements, exposure conditions, and life-cycle expectations of each project. Systems are designed for suspended access by swing stage, bosun’s chair and rope access.

Designed and Installed in
Compliance with CSA

Monorail systems are engineered as suspended access anchorage under CSA Z271 and operated under CSA Z91. Where the same rail also serves as overhead fall protection, the design follows the CSA Z259 series for engineered fall-arrest and travel-restraint systems.

  • Track sections, splices and end stops engineered as a complete system
  • Support spacing and deflection limits verified for the rated trolley loads
  • Trolleys selected for controlled movement and long-term reliability
  • Proof-load testing at commissioning and documentation for the annual inspection cycle

Monorails also provide excellent fall protection coverage for overhead and wall-mounted applications, allowing workers to remain continuously tied off while moving along the rail.

Designed for Fall Protection Applications

Innovative Access monorails are also designed specifically for fall protection applications. Used as an overhead rail with a continuously attached trolley, the same engineered track that carries suspended access equipment provides hands-free fall arrest and travel restraint for workers below — along maintenance walkways, equipment rows, and wall-mounted work areas.

Rails can be bent and curved to suit the building: corners, radii, and unique architectural geometry are all accommodated through custom-formed rail sections, so protection follows the work without gaps.

Support Options

  • Weld-on supports for structural steel
  • Cast-in supports coordinated with new concrete construction
  • Mechanically post-installed supports for retrofit conditions
  • Adjustable supports to accommodate site-specific elevations and tolerances

Applications

  • Façade access beneath roof overhangs, cornices, and balconies
  • Interior applications: atriums, skylights, and feature ceilings
  • Overhead fall protection for maintenance walkways and equipment areas

From first site review to final certification, Innovative Access delivers monorail systems that keep crews productive — and continuously protected — for the life of the building.
